“Life imitates art far more than art imitates life.” ~Oscar Wilde
Did you know you are an artist? In fact, we all are. We are the artist of our lives and how we perform in life is largely shaped by how we see ourselves. Our lives reflect the vision we create for ourselves.
How do you begin to design your ultimate vision for your life and business?
Before you ever put the glue to the board, pen to the pad or fingers on the keyboard, the inspiration for your ultimate vision usually starts with knowing something. It’s got to be inside you first or inside your mind’s eye or somewhere in you. Once you have identified that passion, then you can literally create art out of your life.
3 ways to artfully express your vision:
Keeping a journal: When I’m helping clients create their vision, we start with what’s happening between their ears and what’s coming up for them. That’s where the journaling seems to be most helpful because what I tell them to do is just go to places and just imagine your future and whatever comes up, just write it. Don’t judge it; don’t try to correct it grammatically or anything. Just write what you see as detailed as possible and then from there, they can pull a vision statement.
Writing a vision statement: There is something about writing it down, creating pictures and journaling that helps you bring into reality your vision. There’s something energetic when it flows from your mind through your hand to pen to paper. So I tell people again I prefer you to write it and then if you want to type it from there, great. I don’t know what it is. It’s an energetic thing that I can’t explain no more than I can explain electricity I just know it works.
Creating a vision board:
What’s a Vision Board? A vision board is a tool used to help clarify, concentrate and maintain focus on a specific life goal. Literally, a vision board is any sort of board on which you display images that represent whatever you want to be, do or have in your life. ~from http://www.makeavisionboard.com
A great way to manifest your vision is to create a vision board. A simple way to do this is to pull out the visual points of your journaling or vision statement and put it on a vision board. You can use magazine clippings, pictures, words etc. If you are a scrap booker this would be an awesome project for you.
Whether you do it through some kind of statement, journaling or you do it with the vision board has to do with how you process information, how you learn.
Some people are visual, some people are tutorial and some people are kinesthetic. You’ve got to know what works best for you.
Everybody sees something a little different. There is a commonality between a lot of visions, a lot of people want freedom whether that be time freedom or money freedom, security some of the common values that we tend to share. But, even in that, there is still a uniqueness that God has given each of us that’s got to be a little bit different. And, how to actually make that vision a reality may be a little bit different as we take a different path to accomplish our passion and live on purpose.
