Success by Design: 3 Key Benefits of Transforming Your Vision for Your Life and Business into a Work of Art
In the last article, 3 Powerful Ways to Transform Your Life into a Work of Art, I walked you through how to bring your vision for your life and business to life with pictures and words.
But, it’s important to understand “why” you are designing your vision and how these actions can manifest in your life and business.
What is the big benefit of making a vision tangible and making your vision for your life and business a work of art?
Here are 3 keys benefits of transforming your vision into art:
1. Create Your Energetic shift.
Let me just call it energy management.
It’s an energetic thing. When you are feeling down or you are feeling discouraged I say hey, pull out your vision and read it and go there like you are already doing it and nine times out of ten there’s an energy shift right there in doing that. It’s like a fuel to continue to go; it’s your big why. It’s your reason for doing what you do and your vision encompasses a lot of that.
One of the reasons that I have clients create the vision is because when they read it they digest it they actually put themselves there and I have them write it in active terms.
So, it’s not I will make $100000 a year, it’s I make $100000. In other words, you are already doing it, you feel it. Even the Word talks about to call upon those things forth that be not as though they were. So, that tells me that there is power in your words.
You speak into those things even though you may not see them right now. It’s already done in the spiritual realm, we just have to call it forth in the natural realm and walk in it. That’s what faith brings forth. There’s power in making your vision tangible.
It gives you the power and the energy to move forward in what it is that you’re purposed to do.
2. It keeps you focused and reminded of where you are going or what it is that you are doing.
So, when you get into stuff that is not in line with your vision or there’s something that you don’t need to be doing, it’s time to course correct and get back on track. There are other things you want to put in place of course to make sure you are measuring and keeping on track. But, that’s kind of separate from what I’m talking about.
I’m talking about overall and in general here.
3. From your vision you can extract your goal.
If you have a vision that you are running a company and you have so many people working for you, then your goal for next year maybe to hire your first employee. You may not have anybody but you. Maybe your first goal would be to get that first person hired and get that support in your business.
That’s got to come from a place of knowing that, hey, “I want a business where I’ve got 10 employees working for me and we are doing this, we are accomplishing that.”
So, you kind of start with the end in mind. I forgot who quoted that, but I’ve heard that before from someone.
You start with the end in mind, you back it up and that’s where your goals go.

“Life imitates art far more than art imitates life.” ~Oscar Wilde
Did you know you are an artist? In fact, we all are. We are the artist of our lives and how we perform in life is largely shaped by how we see ourselves. Our lives reflect the vision we create for ourselves.
How do you begin to design your ultimate vision for your life and business?
Before you ever put the glue to the board, pen to the pad or fingers on the keyboard, the inspiration for your ultimate vision usually starts with knowing something. It’s got to be inside you first or inside your mind’s eye or somewhere in you. Once you have identified that passion, then you can literally create art out of your life.
3 ways to artfully express your vision:
Keeping a journal: When I’m helping clients create their vision, we start with what’s happening between their ears and what’s coming up for them. That’s where the journaling seems to be most helpful because what I tell them to do is just go to places and just imagine your future and whatever comes up, just write it. Don’t judge it; don’t try to correct it grammatically or anything. Just write what you see as detailed as possible and then from there, they can pull a vision statement.
Writing a vision statement: There is something about writing it down, creating pictures and journaling that helps you bring into reality your vision. There’s something energetic when it flows from your mind through your hand to pen to paper. So I tell people again I prefer you to write it and then if you want to type it from there, great. I don’t know what it is. It’s an energetic thing that I can’t explain no more than I can explain electricity I just know it works.
Creating a vision board:
What’s a Vision Board? A vision board is a tool used to help clarify, concentrate and maintain focus on a specific life goal. Literally, a vision board is any sort of board on which you display images that represent whatever you want to be, do or have in your life. ~from http://www.makeavisionboard.com
A great way to manifest your vision is to create a vision board. A simple way to do this is to pull out the visual points of your journaling or vision statement and put it on a vision board. You can use magazine clippings, pictures, words etc. If you are a scrap booker this would be an awesome project for you.
Whether you do it through some kind of statement, journaling or you do it with the vision board has to do with how you process information, how you learn.
Some people are visual, some people are tutorial and some people are kinesthetic. You’ve got to know what works best for you.
Everybody sees something a little different. There is a commonality between a lot of visions, a lot of people want freedom whether that be time freedom or money freedom, security some of the common values that we tend to share. But, even in that, there is still a uniqueness that God has given each of us that’s got to be a little bit different. And, how to actually make that vision a reality may be a little bit different as we take a different path to accomplish our passion and live on purpose.

Success by Design: 3 Tips to Resolve to Step Into Your Vision of Greatness
By Anita Kirkman
Once again it’s time to build a vision of our new year and get a clean slate. We know our intention is to make our “New Year’s Resolution” Doable and real.
So we began purposefully executing our vision, and we even do great for a while. Then by March (if not earlier)… what happens? The gyms are almost empty, we eat what’s not on the food list, we spend more than the allocated amounts on our spending plan, and that charge card we committed to paying off?… well now the balance has increased!! Hmm, how did we get off track? Did we really make a real resolution with a purpose that can be supported when times got tough? Or, did we make reso-lies?
What are reso-lies? Lies we tell ourselves at the beginning of the year calling them ‘resolutions’. Yes, we start out with the best of intentions… at first… then somewhere along the way we began to lose the vision.
So how do we make this year and decade different? How can we keep the purpose in our vision and resolve to win in 2010?
Here are some simple tips to turn the reso-lies into true resolutions.
1. Know the “why” behind the “what”
We like to say – know the purpose behind your vision. The vision is the what, the purpose is the why. The “what” may be “I want to lose weight”. The why is your purpose or reason for why you want to lose weight?
You want your purpose to be strong, real, and effective in order to keep the vision alive. Imagine how you will feel once you’ve lost the weight? What will losing weight mean for you? You may answer, “I want to lose weight so that I can be healthy”. Okay, dig deeper, what else? Remember, you are going after a strong purpose to this plan. “I would have more energy”, you say. What would more energy do for you? You get the picture.
This is something I love to help clients do, discover the “whys”. The portrait or vision of you goes well beyond just a slimmer body. You’ll want to focus on this because your true motivation actually comes from your purpose, the “why”, which in turn helps make your ‘what’ sustainable.
2. Measure your goals against your values compass
Creating a values compass is one of the first things I do with new clients. It is a mirror of your purpose and is paramount to starting any plan. The values compass helps to guide you when you are faced with problems, decisions, and especially when creating your vision, setting goals or making your resolutions.
If you aren’t honoring your values in your resolution, it is a reso-lie!
For example, your goal is weight loss (the what), for health reasons (the why) and integrity is important to you (a value).
Then, you do a crash liquid diet to fit into a size 8 dress for your friend’s wedding. What happened?
You dishonored an important value – integrity. Results? The weight comes back with friends and you’re miserable. If you had honored your value of integrity, you would have lost the weight in a healthy way because you said you wanted to lose weight for health reasons. Then you would have not compromised your integrity.
This is why your values compass is so important. If you don’t have a values compass or know how to use one, I am happy to work with you to create this priceless tool so that you use it regularly.
3. Run them through the S.M.A.R.T. filter
You may have heard of setting smart goals, which is what I’m referring to when I say SMART filter. When you’re making a resolution, make sure it meets the following criteria:
S – Specific
M – Measurable
A – Achievable
R – Reasonable
T – Time oriented
