What would life be like if you could actually capture and save time in a bottle? Don’t you wish you could? Well, we both know that there is really no such thing as saving time! Why do I say that? Think about it…we only get 24 hours each day, and once a minute of that day is up, it is gone forever and you can never get it back. While the idea of capturing time in a bottle may sound like a beautiful solution to getting the things done, in reality, only money, coupons and other tangibles can be saved and stocked away to accumulate in value. You can even save a life… But, time? Time can only be spent.

Many times we spend our time like we spend our money and waste it on things that add no value to our lives. We spend time talking big, but rarely do we step into the big vision we dream for ourselves and our families. Instead, we waste time waiting for the fear holding us back to be replaced by miraculously bold courage.

There is not enough time in the world for you to wait for the right time to be great! The key is not to look for ways to “save” time. But, to find opportunities to spend it wisely.

Here are a few ways you can become a master of making the most of moments you have:

Practice the Habit of Taking Imperfect Action: Waiting on perfection is like waiting on cows to jump over the moon. Progress is what’s important. As you take a step closer to your goals the path to success will reveal itself to you.

Talk Back to Fear : We all have those little gremlins in our head telling us what we can’t do. As well as, screaming all the things that can go wrong if we step out of our comfort zone. Know in your heart that these are lies. And, the next time that little “what if” monster starts hacking at your confidence, talk back and tell it “you’re a liar and that’s a lie”! Then begin to think, pray or meditate, and confirm to yourself all of the reasons it isn’t true.

Use Your Critics as Motivation: Dream killers don’t always live in our head. Sometimes they take the form of friends and family that for one reason or another are not supportive of our ambitions. Don’t let their sour grapes get you stuck. Learn how to use negativity as fuel to move you forward.

Don’t Let Unexpected Detours Shake You: Understand that when things happen that detour or even derail you, you should not give up. When life happens, sometimes you have to just grow it!! Use these times as teachable moments that strengthen your character and stamina. Look for the lesson, learn from it and keep moving!

Time is a wonderful gift. Given enough of it, we can heal our wounds, make beautiful songs and create a legacy for generations to come. If you COULD save time in a bottle ,would you treasure it as much as you do your money and other material things? It would be awesome to be able to go to the store and buy a bottle of minutes, a case of hours or even better…an unlimited minute plan for our lives. But unfortunately, we don’t live in a world like that. In the world we do live in, each second that ticks past is a moment lost . If we don’t spend it wisely, our lives become a blur of wasted opportunities. If you’ve been bottling up your dreams and potential, use these tips as inspiration and license to leverage your time to influence your success and that of others.

How do you capture each moment? What challenges do you feel keep you from mastering your time?

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind… ~ Romans 12:2

I remember when I was in high school; one of my teachers’ criticisms of my writing embedded itself so deep in my subconscious that it followed me into adulthood. Ever since that experience in high school I’d been feeding myself the message that “Anita, your writing is only average and you can’t really write”.   So with that message ringing loud and clear between my ears, I avoided writing like the plague.  I mean if there was a blank piece of paper in front of me that I was to write on about something, suddenly I would find myself paralyzed and unable to draw anything in mind except a blank!

We all get millions of messages every day that affect our life’s decisions. Some of these messages hit our subconscious and unbeknownst to us; they wedge themselves between our dreams and our ability to fulfill those dreams.

Since starting my business, I had to come face to face with those thoughts that were keeping me stuck; otherwise I would never realize the success God provisioned for me. This transformation called for me to renew my mind and create a pattern of thought that allowed me to move and to continue to move forward into my destiny.

What does it mean to have a renewed mind?
A renewed mind is a total renovation of the way you think. Having a renewed mind means you no longer have thoughts that don’t serve you in your journey to success.  Thinking is so important because that is where everything begins…success or failure.   If you want real success, pay close attention to not only what you think but how you think, and most importantly…what influences your thoughts.

Why is it important to have a renewed mind?
A renewed mind is the key to sustained change and real transformation. Transformation starts between your ears. Before you take any action, you THINK about it, even if you only think about it for a second, there is a thought that influences an action.  Sometimes, the thought can influence inaction.  For example, your decision to not follow up with prospects you met at a networking event started out with you thinking about how much you did not want to do it and how much you don’t want someone to feel like you are being a pest.

Many times our action on inaction is motivated by fearful thoughts, like in the example above.  Another example, my high school teacher’s criticism created a fear based thought pattern in my mind that I sucked at writing. This fear would freeze my ability to act and move forward because the perception was, “what if others agree?”, so I decided that I hate writing and I was not going to ever do it (oh but, God, had other plans for that decision)!!

How can you get a renewed mind and begin to walk into your destiny?
The way you think determines your destiny in life.  I am happy to report that after learning and applying the following principles to fighting negative thoughts, I have proven my high school teacher wrong and reshaped my subconscious.  Although writing is not my favorite thing to do in the world (I’d much rather speak), I have successfully written some amazing material when I’ve purposed my mind to do so.

Below I share with you five principles I have used and continue to use to keep my mind renewed.
  1. Daily Walk in the Word of God (Galatians 5:16). As you take on God’s mindset, then you will take on His actions that will lead you to your success.
  2. Be careful of what influences your thoughts, like what you watch, read, hear and who you hang around.
  3. Take every thought captive. When you have negative “I can’t do…” thoughts, take them captive immediately and rebut them by saying aloud “I can do…” or “It’s important that I do…”.
  4. Replace carnal thoughts with the Word of God. Positive affirmations are designed to change a thought, so be sure to use them. You can get some affirmations based on God’s Word to get you started by clicking this link: http://www.myempoweringaffirmations.com/
  5. Claim and believe the promises of God. Activate God’s promise of abundance for your life with your faith. Believe that you can do all things through Christ that strengthens you.

Take inspired action to renew your mind today and watch your life and confidence change dramatically.
